The Socialist Youth is the biggest leftist youth organisation in Austria. Young people - pupils, young workers and students - are active within the socialist youth, plan political campaigns and activities and organise events and seminars as well as leisure time activities. Nobody can tell us how and what our future und our activities should look like - upon them we decide all on our own!

We know where we come from...

Since the year 1894 young people get organised within the Socialist Youth and their predecessor organisations to fight against social and economic grievances of society and to change the world where we live in into a better one. In many fields we already succeeded: protection for young workers, introduction of the civil service, removal of tuition fees, reduction in the voting age, ... - initiatives taken by the Socialist Youth stood at the beginning of those achievements, bringing the concerns of the youth to a broader public and exerting political pressure.

The Socialist Youth stands for a society in which nobody is discriminated against because of his/her origin, colour, gender or sexual orientation. We oppose an economic system that gives unlimited prosperity to a few and brings unemployment and bitter hardships to millions. We stand for a society in which all people have the same opportunities to develop their abilities and talents, a society which is not led by the interests of the profit but in which human needs takes centre stage. Our aim is a socialist society.

It's up to us!

Neither overcrowded school classes, nor high youth unemployment or bad working conditions will disappear on their own. Only if we speak up and are loud we will be heard! What we can reach and achieve depends on how strong we are. In order to fight effectively against inequalities and to solve present problems we have to fight together!
